"Homeschoolers Don't Live in a Box"
Well, it seems as if the con on homeschooling is socializing. I am a homeschooler and I see homeschoolers; they are friendly, open and amazing public speakers. I’m not just saying that because I’m homeschooled. I attended a private school up till 8th grade, I am not a very talkative person....I was known as the girl with the quiet spirit! I always wanted to be homeschooled, because I felt like everyone at school just took it as "social time" and I just wanted to focus on my work. It was hard, because I would be finished with my work...and the class was the still struggling...so, that would be hold me back. I would beg my mom to home school me...but she thought she would ruin me. My eighth grade year, we were undecided on what high school I was going to attend. I didn't want to attend a public, but at the same time private would be too expensive. So my only option was public. My friend was homeschooled, and told me all about it. I thought it sounded awesome! I was supposed to be praying for the public school that the Lord wanted me to go to, but instead I was praying that God would place it in my mom’s heart to home school me.
I am now going on my third year of being homeschooled. I noticed, and others have noticed that I have become more open! I’m still a little shy, but I’m more open and talkative. People that I met recently, can’t believe that I’m homeschooled and so social able. They always thought homeschoolers were so quiet, always with their head down…hiding themselves from the world. I took an outside Biology class with other homeschoolers my freshman year. I was so nervous; I thought I was going to be in a room filled with nerds, and quiet kids. I walked in class, and everyone was talking to one another. Kids approached me and welcomed me. They were all so nice, and seemed like normal kids. I think homeschoolers are very social able, they might not experience stuff kids experience in normal schools. Believe it or not, homeschoolers are sociable! Kids these days take school as “social time” “fun time” “my friend time” but that’s not what school’s about!
As homeschoolers, we are still exposed to drama, peer pressure, jealousy, sex, drugs, etc. We still live in this world, people! We don’t live in a box! We hear things in the media, we see things around us, and ultimately we have to make a choice. Parents may say “I want my kids to be exposed to the world, to make their choices” I don’t know why parents want their children to be exposed so fast! I think the parent should train up their children, teach them right and wrong…and when they are ready to enter the real world…it's up to them to make the choice. In High School, teens still don’t know what they want, or who they are…there’s so much pressure, it’s so easy kids to fall into those pressures. I think parents shouldn’t want their children to be exposed. I think they should keep their kids close to them, keep their kids pure, and train them! When they enter College, the real world...it will be up to them to make the choices. When your teen makes a wrong decision, don’t blame the kids…you're the one who wanted them to be exposed! But at the same time, it is their fault…but you can change that!
I think it’s dumb, when people say “you don’t know, you’re homeschooled” homeschoolers do get peer pressured, I’ve heard many stories. I go through drama, I do get peer pressured, etc. whether you’re homeschooled or not…you will be exposed to this world. I choose to separate myself from stuff, and to be different.
The thing I love most about being homeschooled, is waking up…spending time with my dad before he goes to work, being able to work at my pace, having more free time, being able to work on the things I love, being home with my family, and being able to learn God’s word. I love being able to do school with my mom and brother. Being able to help him out, do crafts with him! The thing I hated about school, was having to leave home...having to leave my family! Now I’m with them 24/7 and I LOVE it.
I encourage every parent who doesn’t work, to cherish their kids, and to pray about homeschooling them. Don’t expose them to soon! Teach them from right and wrong, and when their kids are ready to enter the real world…it will be up to them.
For those parents, who work and cant home school their kids! Talk to your kids, and be involved in your Childs life!

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
